Welcome to Spindles And Sprockets Web Site

'Spindles and Sprockets' is a bicycle maintenance project based in Corsham Wiltshire. Our aim is to provide a maintenance service based on recycled old bicycle bits to keep Corsham Cycling and to increase the number of journeys made by bicycle in and around Corsham. With the number of bike shops reducing and a whole generation growing up without the basic skills of cycle repair, its difficult keeping bikes on the road. There can be waiting times of up to two weeks for bike shops to provide repairs (four weeks in London). This is why we would like to hold training days in the future so that people can learn by renovating a discarded bike or repairing their existing bike.

We also aim to improve people experience of cycling. People tend to buy mountain bikes, with knobbly 'agricultural' tyres, from mail order firms or even supermarkets. These bikes are made in the far east, are poorly adjusted and the tyres are not inflated to the correct pressure. This can lead to a poor cycling experience that can be off putting to regular cycling. We aim to encourage the use of light weight road frame based bikes for utility cycling and we are currently working on a number of these bikes.

Bicycle Maintenance Days

We hold Bicycle Maintenance Days at the Pound Arts Centre each week on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Bring your bike along to the Pound Arts Centre for a service or repair by experienced local cyclists.

Bikes for Sale

Are you looking for a bike? We have an increasing number of donated bikes that have been reconditioned ready for use.

Donate a bike

Do you have an old bike that you do not want any more? Donate it to us and help keep Corsham Cycing. We can use the frame and parts to create new bicycles that can be sold locally to provide cheap sustainable transport.

Future activities

We hope to do maintenance workshops, a 'clean your bike' day, build trailers and provide cycle hire.
